About Simply Asia

Our Origins


The Simply Asia Food Group grew out of our love for fresh and innovative Asian cuisine and our desire to share that love with New Zealanders. What began as one café in central Nelson has grown to include five different cafés and restaurants and seven separate venues across central Nelson, Richmond and Blenheim – with more to follow.

We developed a love of food thanks to our mothers’ cooking. Nuttavut’s mother in particular was a fantastic cook and that led him to pursue his passion and become a chef. Nuttavut’s mother inspires everything we do at Simply Asia.

Our recipes are all about using the knowledge we have from cooking with our families in Thailand and around the world, taking the best local ingredients and experimenting and adapting to the local palate.

Tasty, healthy food at affordable prices that our customers love to eat. This mantra has seen our business grow from strength to strength.

We started out as a husband and wife team with one café and now have 70 staff (and two sons) in the Simply Asia Food Group. Never ones to sit still, we plan to apply our successful formula to grow our food group even further.

Family is all important to us. We have based our restaurants and cafés on that same principle – we want our customers to feel welcome and at home when they dine with us. Likewise our staff are all a part of the Simply Asia family. With tasty food adapted for the Kiwi palate, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere, we want all New Zealanders to experience Asian fusion cooking at its best.
